The German Hotel and Restaurant Association (DEHOGA) has repeatedly awarded the eco-balance of the Europa-Park Resort with the gold status. It is the highest rating awarded by the association in its “DEHOGA Environmental Check”. Waste management plays a major role in the assessment. Germany’s largest theme park has developed its own waste disposal and recycling concept. Among other things, it consistently avoids unnecessary packaging material. In addition, waste is consistently separated wherever possible.

Recycling is the second pillar of waste management. The employees of the park’s own recycling centre sort the waste into 20 different categories, which are then sent to a specialist company for recycling and reprocessing. Through strict waste separation as well as targeted purchasing and logistical measures, the total amount of waste has already been reduced by more than half over the years. High-tech waste bins powered by solar panels are even used to ensure cleanliness within Europa-Park.
