Europa-Park needs no fewer than 180,000 pumpkins to decorate its mystical halloween season. and then what? after the event, the fruits are reused - in a natural cycle. On the
one hand, guests are allowed to take pumpkins home. But for the most part, the leftover or damaged pumpkins are used as animal feed or for biogas plants. the resulting fermentation residues serve as natural fertiliser on the fields. in this way, the halloween pumpkins at Europa-Park return to their origin, so to speak. Roland Mack: “We don’t just throw pumpkins away. they are, after all, natural products and food.”
