The Grand Ried (‘big reed’) stretches over almost 2,000 hectares near Strasbourg. The new Mack One France innovation centre fits into this natural landscape of meadows, small forests and romantic waters in a way that is as close to nature as it is sustainable. On the initiative of Michael Mack, Europa-Park has established a location outside Germany for the first time in Plobsheim, Alsace. There, international employees work on innovative solutions in the digital field.
Great care was taken to ensure that the location blends into its surroundings as unobtrusively as possible. For example, the building supports and façades are made of about 80 per cent renewable softwood. About 80 percent of the heating and cooling is provided by a groundwater heat pump. The building’s own solar panels contribute to the power supply.
