Germany’s largest photovoltaic roof

Europa-Park together with the automobile logistics company Mosolf is developing a photovoltaic car park roof of more than 20 hectares near Lahr. The installation of 50,000 photovoltaic modules will be the largest photovoltaic roof in Germany. After completion in mid-2024, it will produce about 25 gigawatt hours of electricity per year. The total investment value is close to 30 million euros.

“Europa-Park takes a considerable amount of the energy generated and can thus supply itself independently with renewable electricity in the long term, especially in the summer months,” explains Europa-Park owner Roland Mack. “Consequent ecological action also pays off economically in the long run. We installed the first heat pumps 20 years ago, when nobody was talking about them yet.” The park has been generating its own electricity for years with its own hydroelectric power plant, solar panels and combined heat and power plants.
