Interview with Petra Hedorfer

How can tourism achieve a balance between economy, ecology and social responsibility?
Petra Hedorfer: Tourism - just like other economic sectors - must and can make its contribution to more sustainability. As early as 2015, the UN member states agreed on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Since 2019, the European Green Deal has formulated the goal of reducing CO2 emissions to zero by 2050. Many companies in Germany - including Europa-Park - already have a wide range of attractive offers that meet the demands of sustainable tourism.

Could quality sustainable tourism become a trademark for Germany?
Hedorfer: It already is. Numerous rankings confirm Germany’s excellent positioning as a sustainable destination. Responsible tourism creates social peace and contributes to international understanding.
