In 1975, not even its founders Franz and Roland Mack would have dreamed that their theme park in the Baden countryside would one day be the most popular tourist destination in Germany. Since then, a mega success story “made in Germany” that employs around 5,250 people has developed in Rust – earning the congratulations of even the German Chancellor, Friedrich Merz.
“Symbol of European unity”
The German Chancellor was a surprise guest via video link at the big anniversary gala, and explained in his video message: “Europa-Park in Rust is a symbol of vibrant European unity and diversity. Every year, millions of visitors to Europa-Park experience a Europe characterised by freedom, diversity and an open society. Today we need this more than ever. I would therefore like to thank you, dear Mack family and all Europa-Park employees, for 50 years of entrepreneurial dedication, European pioneering spirit and inexhaustible innovative strength as well as countless wonderful memories that you have given to generations of visitors from all over Europe.”
