Happy Birthday Roland Mack!

Europa-Park founder Roland Mack celebrates his 75th birthday

True to the motto "Those who work hard can also celebrate", more than 4,000 employees celebrated the 75th birthday of their boss Roland Mack at Europa-Park's annual company party against the backdrop of the traditional Oktoberfest. "The success of our group of companies is based on the commitment of each individual. It is the people who make Europa-Park, Rulantica and all our companies what they are today. Today we are not only celebrating our achievements, but above all the strong team spirit that characterises us," emphasised Roland Mack in his acceptance speech.

The Director of Operations and Service, Volker Klaiber, spoke about Roland Mack on behalf of the employees.

Here is an extract:

Mr. Mack, you are, among other things ...
clever, curious, inquisitive, conscientious, exact, generous, well-read, open-minded, convinced, charming, fond of detail, optimistic, snappy, demanding, supportive, encouraging, deliberate, calculating, impatient, often annoying, tough but fair
and never resentful.

Congratulations and here's to many more years full of excitement for our Europa-Park!

The founder and owner of Europa-Park in Rust, Roland Mack, celebrated his 75th birthday on 12 October 2024. Roland Mack is considered one of the most unusual and successful family entrepreneurs in Germany. He has made millions of children and families happy with "his" Europa-Park. More than 145 million people have visited Germany's largest theme park since July 1975, and the Mack family has invested more than a billion euros without a cent of public subsidies. Roland Mack is the idea generator, motor and doer of Europa-Park. If you ask about his characteristics, you will always hear: curious, warm, open, direct, disciplined, social, conscientious, always present, quality-orientated. And these are by no means all the qualities that make Roland Mack so successful.

Roland Mack runs a family business par excellence: Together with his father Franz, his wife Marianne, his brother Jürgen and his children, he built Europa-Park and led the nearby Mack Rides production company, which is almost 250 years old, to worldwide success. Roland Mack is now handing over the company to the next generation and continues to act as a mentor and consultant. "I am a trustee for our family business and am handing over a company that is well equipped for the future." Sons Michael and Thomas have long been active in the management of Europa-Park and have taken on operational responsibility, while daughter Ann-Kathrin is a qualified architect and
authorised signatory.

Dear Dad,
Today we would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts – for always supporting us and for still being there for us now. You are not only our father, but also a counsellor, mentor and the foundation of our family and our company. An essential part of our success is your unique ability to approach people and win them over. It does not matter whether it's the paper reader in the park or the German President, the Prince of Monaco, Wolfgang Schäuble or football legend Franz Beckenbauer – you've spoken to them all and they were crazy about you. That's what makes you so special.

As goalkeeper of the university team in Karlsruhe, you kept the goal clean. Even back then you were an outstanding player – not just in goal, but as a striker and libero on the pitch of life. You almost became a professional ... today we are happy to have your expertise as a coach at our side, coaching us from the sidelines.

Michael, Thomas und Ann-Kathrin Mack

You've left big shoes to fill, but luckily there are three of us – and with Uncle Jürgen, Frederik and Alexia at our side, we're in the best possible position. We run the company with passion, emotion and discipline, and together we have everything under control. Our family business will be successful for a long time to come – and, above all, will remain a family business. We thank you for that, Dad.

We sincerely wish you continued health, happiness and hopefully a few well-deserved hours of peace and quiet.

With love,
Your children Michael, Thomas, Ann-Kathrin
