30 years of „El Andaluz“

An amusement park with a hotel? Not unusual today, but almost inconceivable 30 years ago. As with so many developments in the industry, the Mack family started it all. In 1995, they opened ‘El Andaluz’, the first hotel in a German amusement park. Roland Mack didn't actually want to become a hotelier, but ‘when we couldn't find anyone else, we just did it ourselves’.

The demand was enormous. Just two years later, the bed capacity at ‘El Andaluz’ had to be significantly expanded and a second hotel, ‘Castillo Alcazar’, was added in 1999. Today, the park has six and the planning for further experience hotels is already underway. The ever-expanding offering at the Europa-Park experience resort has led to rising requests for overnight stays. Starting with the ‘El Andaluz’ 30 years ago, Germany's largest interconnected hotel resort was created in Rust.
