In summer, a very special facility is opening in Europa-Park for families with a child who has survived cancer: “Children’s House for Young Heroes”. Five apartments provide accommodation for four people each, who can come here to recharge their batteries over a stay of five days. The project was initiated by the Mack family, together with the Stiftung RTL - Wir helfen Kindern (RTL Foundation – We help children), the Deutsche Kinderkrebsstiftung (German Children's Cancer Foundation) and the "Stelzenmännchen" ("Stilts Man") charity.
The families stay free of charge and are looked after by volunteer retired employees of Europa-Park. Over three million euros have gone into the construction, while donors meet the running costs. Supporters of the project already include the world-famous DJ BoBo and other star names and companies.
